Perhaps one of the most talked-about ways of seeing the area is the famous donkey taxis. Whether by "burros-taxi" or foot, those keen on exploring Mijas will often head to the Bull Ring, famous for its irregular oval shape; the Church of the Immaculate Conception, built originally by the Arabs in 836AD; as well as the elevated gardens. And wherever you are, the spectacular views down to the sea are breathtaking.
The municipality's 12 kilometre coastline offers small bays and large expanses of sandy shore line; and many display the Blue Flag.
With modern day facilities including an aqua-park; a race .course; a sports centre; arts centre; golf course; several museums; a library; and an open-air theatre, it is easy to see why so many foreigners now call Mijas "home;"
