Unfortunately there are many scams designed to part you and your belongings particularly at the start of your holiday as well as at other times throughout your stay.

Malaga Airport

Malaga Airport is undergoing the most extensive transformation in its history The construction work will provide the Costa del Sol with a modern airport with a new passenger terminal, car parks and a second runway which will give the airport the capability of handling more than 20 million passengers per year Work is due to be completed in 2010 but until then the time taken to get into and exit from the airport is extended considerably.  The car parking is restricted and for those arriving the pick up points are particularly difficult.  Please leave plenty of time to park if going for a flight and ensure if you are being collected you have agreed a suitable meeting point outside the terminal as the person meeting you may not be able to park. Malaga Airport advice is to use public transport and arrive at the airport at least a hour and a half before domestic flights and two hours before international flights. Beware of the directional signs as many access roads have changed.

New Flight Services from Glasgow Pestwick to Malaga

Starting in the week of the 27th October 2008 Ryanair is going operate the Prestwick - Malaga route.  You can book flights now on the Ryanair website.

New Flight Services

Jet2.com are adding Malaga from Newcastle in the north east of England and Belfast in Northern Ireland to its list of services.  The service from Belfast Airport will operate from May until end of October 07. There will be 3 flights per week with a 4th at peak times.

Malaga to New York DIRECT

DELTA AIRLINES are to start a Malaga service direct to New York in June 08. Initally the flight will operate 4 times to JFK Airport but could increase to daily in 2009. This new sevice will give easier access to connections for travellers from Malaga to fly on to Atlanta, Orlando, Boston, Los Angeles and San Fransisco.

British Airways will from now on charge £120 on extra suitcases checked in for long haul flights. Under the new charges the cost of extra suitcases on European flights will be £60 and on UK domestic flight you wiil have to pay £30 for an extra suitcase.  First Class passengers will be less affected and will be allowed to check in a larger number of items without charge.  Customers who book on line will get a discount on the above costs providing they book before September 30th. 07.

Jerez Airport

Jerez Airport is to operate new flights to Europe from this spring. The volume of passengers using Jerez’s La Parra airport has increased by 62 per cent in last five years.

New Flight Sevices

Because of the popularity of the Costa de la Luz new links with Manchester are being established by Monarch Airlines who will operate a 4 times a week service from March 07.

The Scandinavian branch of My Travel is to launch a weekly service from Stockholm to Jerez in the spring and another from Copenhagen to Jerez as from the summer. With the news that My Travel is to merge with Thomas Cook this year, this new service will probably operate under the Thomas Cook brand or another new name.  

Gibraltar Airport

Following an agreement between the Gibraltar and UK and Spanish goverments regarding the use of the Airport. The joint use agreement includes the construction of a new direct exit so that passengers from Spanish Airports can reach La Linea without having to pass through the border controls.

Iberia has announced that it will be the first to establish flights from Gibraltar to Spanish Airports.

Easyjet has bought GB Airways and will be operating their services from April 2008.  Until then British Airways will co-operate to esure the smooth transition for passengers.  It is intended that GB Airways will be fully integrated into the Easyjet brand by the winter of 2008.
